The 17e is the cheaper way into a current iPhone, with the same A19 chip and 256 GB to start. You give up the 120 Hz screen (the 17e runs at 60 Hz) and the ultrawide camera. For most people the 17 is worth the extra.

Spend the extra if you keep a phone three or four years. A 120 Hz screen stays pleasant long after 60 Hz starts to feel dated, and you also get the ultrawide camera and twice the charging speed.
Choose the Apple iPhone 17e
Fine when the budget is fixed and the phone is mostly for WhatsApp, maps and photos of whatever's in front of you. Battery life is good (up to 26 hours of video), and you still get MagSafe magnetic charging and IP68 water resistance.
